Chardham means the four-holy city in India which is popular in Hindu Devotees, are Rameshwaram, Puri, Dwarika & Jagganath. These are 4 Chardham in India but there is one more chardham in India. People called it chota chardham which is located in Uttarakhand. The name are as follows:
- Badrinath
- Kedarnath
- Gangotri
- Yamunotri
So here we will be talked about chota chardham located in Uttarakhand. Every Hindu want to visit these above places one in their life time. People believe that if they visit these four cities and temple then they’ve got moksha which is a situation to free their rebirth cycle on this earth and their sould meet with the almighty God. Now we here is some precious information about Chota Chardham.
Badrinath: The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. This place or temple is also a part of main Chardham of India which we discussed above on above paragraph- Badrinath, Rameshwaram, Puri, Jagganath. The Badrinath temple is positioned between two mountain Nar and Narayan. These Nar and Narayan was two God of Hindu and avatar of Lord Vishnu and grandsons of lord Brahma. These two avatars are son of Dharma. The temple is located at the bank of river Alaknanda. Normally the temple opens in every 5 month of the year and closed every November but open and closing of temple totally depend on the weather.
Kedarnath: The temple is located on bank of river Mandakini and this temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva is one of the main God of Hindus. The three main God of Hindus are Brahma, Vishnu & Mahesh (Shiva). Kedarnath is build by the Pandavas. Pandvas visit this plave after Mahabharata war and build this temple. Total 12 jyotirlinga temple situated in India and kedarnath is one of them. When kedarnath temple cover by the snow in winter season it looks incredible.
Gangotri: Gangotri is located in Uttarkashi distt. In Uttarakhand state. Uttarkashi is a pilgrimage which is located on the bank of Bhagrirathi river. Gangotri is a small city in Uttarkashi and its origin place of holy Ganga river (Ganges). There is white temple in main Gangotri city which is dedicated to goddess Ganga. Originally origin of Ganga river is Gaumukh which is exact 19km trek from Gangotri city. This temple is also a part of chota chardham in India. The temple opens on may and closes every year on the day of Diwali, it is Hindus festival. There are 2 more places to visit in Gangotri
1- Bhagirathi Shila - It is a Holy Rock according to Hindus mythology at this place king Bhagirath prayed to lord Shiva.
2- Pandav Gufa - It is located 1.5 km from Gangotri. It’s a place where Pandavas rest and meditate when they were going to Kedarnath.
Yamunotri: The origin of the Yamuna river is Yamunotri. In Yamunotri, there is a temple dedicated to Goddess Yamuna. She was a sister of Yamraj who is God of death according to Hindus mythology. Yamunotri is also located in Uttarkashi district In Uttarakhand. The real source of Yamuna river is Yamunotri glacier frozen on the kalind mountain. If anybody wants to see that glacier then from Yamunotri it is a total of 2 days trek to champasar glacier. The Yamunotri temple is built of wood and located at the bank of Yamuna river. The view from the temple is very fascinating.
